Make sure you don’t miss this year’s spectacular Christmas Tree Festival in St Mary’s Church, Aspenden.
On the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December, the church will be aglow with beautifully decorated Christmas trees.
The communities of Aspenden, Buntingford and Westmill are getting involved by creating imaginatively themed trees. We have entries from our local schools, businesses, groups, charities, individuals and many more.
What’s more, you will get to vote for your favourite tree and the top three trees will be displayed in Aspenden church throughout the Christmas period.
Our family-friendly festival will allow visitors to escape from the hustle and bustle of the festive period and lose themselves in our astonishing tree-lined medieval church. Make sure to pause for a cuppa and a slice of homemade cake too!
There is no charge for entry as we want everyone to be able to come along and enjoy some time out of the busy period. We gratefully accept donations for the upkeep and work of our church.
If you are travelling by car or sleigh, please park with consideration to our neighbours along the Aspenden road, as space is limited near the church. St Mary’s church is wheelchair accessible and toilets available too.
When is it on?
Saturday 14th December 2024, 10am-4pm.
Sunday 15th December 2024, 11am-4pm.
It will be tree-mendous to celebrate the Christmas season with you!

Have your say! Engagement sessions launched to help shape the future of parking in East Herts
Help East Herts Council improve parking in the district.
We want to improve parking to deliver fairer services and create a healthier, greener environment for our communities. Throughout September, East Herts District Council will conduct in-person and online engagement sessions to gauge public opinion on proposed parking initiatives in the district. Following an engagement period, a new parking strategy will be outlined in late 2024, with the strategy expected to be implemented in 2025.
The intention is that these sessions will inform a strategy which will aim to:
Some of the changes being considered for the new parking strategy include:
Residents and businesses are encouraged to have their say on proposed changes and to suggest their own improvements to parking in the district, in order to help the council improve the environment for all, and to help make our streets better and safer for all means of transport. Cllr Tim Hoskin, Executive Member for Sustainability, said, “Parking, car parks and parking spaces are certainly hot topics in our district. We are here to listen, and we look forward to getting residents further involved in the drafting and implementation of a new parking strategy that better serves our local communities.”
“We are keen to hear how parking locally affects your personal life, your work life, and the lives of your friends and family. By offering your feedback, you will be helping us improve our parking infrastructure to the benefit of all residents, whilst also contributing to a safer and more sustainable future for East Herts.”
In-person consultation events scheduled so far will take place on the following dates at the venues listed:
