Speed Management Strategy

The Local Transport Plan sets out how the County Council intends to provide for safe and efficient travel, catering for all forms of transport. The Speed Management Strategy is a supporting document to this and sets out a consistent approach to setting speed limits along with guidance for implementing traffic calming measures and speed cameras.

The strategy includes further guidance on the implementation of 20mph speed limits.  This is a key measure to encourage walking and cycling and improve local environments.

Other changes include information on how measured speeds are used to guide speed limits, information on design and other measures to change driver behaviour and the process for changing speed limits.

Have your say on the Speed Management Strategy consultation. The public engagement is open from 1 July 2020 – 16 September 2020
