Aspenden Parish Council were proud to participate in the  Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s, Aspenden and entered a decorated tree titled ‘Our Village – Aspenden. The tree was decorated with ‘baubles’ depicting black and white images of Aspenden over the years. Thanks go to Jeff Poulton for the loan of many historical photographs.

The Revd Kirsty Wainwright sent a message to all participants:

We wanted to say a big thank you for creating your tree for our first Christmas Tree Festival at St Mary’s, Aspenden.

We had so many positive comments from people visiting. They were thrilled at the creativity, the powerful sentiments, and the community support to make this happen.

We couldn’t have done this without you, you literally made this happen!

We believe there were over 400 people visiting over the two days. There was lots of happy chatter, people catching up with friends, dogs and their owners. This was community gold.

In addition to the joy of the event, the donations and refreshments made over £1.000 from which we need to deduct the final few expenses. We are very grateful for everyone’s generosity and the money will directly support St Mary’s Church.

Though we have yet to have a final team meeting to discuss the event, I believe we will do this again next December. You may want to start thinking ahead for your next design!

Thank you again, we are utterly delighted with how the weekend went. We are very grateful for your time, energy and support.

Kindest regards,

Revd Kirsty Wainwright
