Sunday Act of Remembrance
/in News/by Clerk“Live Stream” of Remembrance Service, 8th November 2020
Following the statement regarding the National Lockdown in England that comes into effect from midnight on Wednesday 4thNovember, Buntingford Town Council has received advice from Government that the Remembrance Service due to be held on Sunday 8th November 2020 can go ahead, albeit with restrictions.
A full risk assessment has been carried out of the service which will be led by the Reverend Ian Hill of St Peter’s Church.
In order to keep members of the public safe and to ensure Safe Distancing, the service will be short with only 3 Wreaths being laid at the War Memorial by representatives of Buntingford Town Council, the Royal British Legion and Serving Service Men and Women.
The area around the War Memorial will be cordoned off and only those taking part in the service will be allowed into the area during the service. Attendees are restricted to ensure Safe Distancing and members of the public are requested not to attend.
You are very welcome to attend the service online which will be “live streamed” to the Buntingford Town Council Website, www.buntingford-tc.gov.uk and the Buntingford Town Council Facebook page www.facebook.com/buntingfordtc. Live streaming will start at 10.45am and the service will commence at 10.50am.
The Royal British Legion is encouraging people to show their respect by holding a two minute silence at their doorstep.
Any other organisations that may wish to lay a wreath are requested to do so at any other time.
An act of Remembrance Service will take place at the War Memorial in St Mary’s Church, Aspenden, during the day.

We give information and advice to people to help solve their problems. We also work to make life better by campaigning locally and nationally on the issues that keep causing problems
Dandara Public Consultation Thursday 10th September 4pm – 7pm
/in News/by ClerkSince the approval of Keepers Chase last year, Dandara are in a position to acquire a small parcel of land adjoining the north of Keepers Chase. Following pre-application advice from the Council, Dandara are currently preparing an application for 23 dwellings on the site which will be submitted to East Hertfordshire District Council in due course.
Dandara want to ensure that residents were aware of the application and will therefore be holding a public consultation on Thursday 10th September at their sales office at Keepers Chase from 4.00m until 7.00pm.
Covid-19 procedures will be in place at the event. Masks must be worn inside the sales office and temperatures will be checked upon entry. Access within the sales office will be limited to 6 people and you may be asked to wait outside if at capacity. There will however be leaflets available to take away if at capacity and do not want to wait. Social distancing will be adhered to at all times and sanitisation will be available.
A10 Buntingford Roundabout Upgrade – Stakeholder Consultation
/in News/by ClerkHCC is developing a scheme to upgrade the roundabout at the junction of the A10 and London Road to the south of Buntingford. This improvement is identified in the Council’s Local Transport Plan and East Herts District Council’s Local Plan. The Council is currently seeking funding to deliver the project so we are unable to commit to a delivery date, however, we are seeking views of local stakeholders to ensure that we have a project that is ready to deliver should the opportunity arise.
This roundabout currently experiences queues and delays during peak periods and this is forecast to worsen in future years due to growth in the wider area.
The proposed scheme (see attached plans) involves reconfiguring the existing oval shaped roundabout to a circular shaped roundabout with the following features to improve its capacity:
- A segregated left turn lane from the A10 (South) to the A10 (North West);
- Providing additional lanes at the entries to and exits from the roundabout;
- Providing a section of new shared cycle and walking path at the eastern arm of the roundabout to link to the football club and proposed school;
- Realigning the footway adjacent to the southbound carriageway, closing the layby south of the roundabout and amendments to private field accesses to the west of the A10 to accommodate the above changes.
- Signing an alternative route for cyclists parallel to the A10 between Buntingford and the Puckeridge area along lightly trafficked roads.
We believe this scheme will significantly benefit local residents and businesses and people who use the A10.

There will be a further opportunity to comment on these proposals when we hold a statutory consultation on the permanent traffic regulation orders needed for the scheme.

Citizen’s Advice East Herts – Here to help
/in News/by ClerkSince 23 March, we have helped 2,396 clients – 36% more than the same time period last year – with advice on a range of issues. Employment continues to be the top issue for clients, with advice needed on furlough and redundancy etc. We are also continuing to help with practical support such as Foodbank referrals and local community links and are working with East Herts Police and other local Citizens Advice to raise awareness of Covid-related scams.
Whilst some restrictions have lifted we have decided to continue to give advice from home for the time being– many of our volunteers are vulnerable/have caring responsibilities and most of our offices do not easily allow for social distancing. We are exploring how we can add in some element of a physical advice service, with the necessary protections in place. In the meantime, we would take this opportunity to remind you of our access options, as set out in the attached flyer. Our website and social media are also useful reference points for latest information.
We are working closely with partners to look at how we can best meet client need post Covid. As government support starts to reduce we are expecting an increased need for help with debt, money advice, employment and housing and trying raise funds to resource more specialist support in these areas (as well as cover the costs of home working).
