Proposed Aspenden Road Closure August 2025
/in News /by ClerkAspenden Parish Council has been made aware, via a letter to the occupiers of the Watermill Industrial Estate, of the proposed closure of Aspenden Road for the period 5th August to 29th August whilst Dandara carry out their S278 highway works. The Parish Council has made clear on several occasions the serious implications on local residents and businesses of a full daytime road closure.
The diversion route for the period of the planned closure would be via Westmill village.
The Chair of Aspenden Parish Council has contacted the agencies involved in this decision to raise the fact that this diversion route is totally unsuitable. It is not capable of withstanding the volume of traffic (much of which would be HGVs) a full road closure will bring and the junctions to and from the A10 for Westmill are already dangerous.
The District Councillor Sue Nicholls and the newly elected County Councillor Terry Smith have also been informed and are supporting Aspenden Parish Council.
A response from Hertfordshire County Council stated ‘Please be advised we have not issued any formal approvals to enable these works to proceed. To date initial discussions regarding the works have taken place, at which County officers highlighted the concerns with closing Aspenden Road for a prolonged period. Dandara and their contractors have been tasked with exploring alternative arrangements to facilitate the works in the least disruptive way possible. Your concerns are noted and will feed into wider discussions with the developer and contractors.’

Waste and Recycling Changes: New Container Deliveries
/in News /by ClerkStarting Monday, residents in East Herts will begin receiving their new purple-lidded bins, along with two caddies for the new food waste collection service.
Each delivery includes two information leaflets, please see attachments below.
The key messages to note are:
- Residents should not start using the new bins until the service begins on 4 August.
- They should apply the enclosed stickers to their existing bins, which are being repurposed as part of the changes.

Bin and caddy deliveries are scheduled to be completed by the end of July.

Temporary Closing of Cherry Green Lane and 3U20 (Unnamed Road) Westmill Order 2025
/in News /by ClerkNOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:
1. that length of Cherry Green Lane, Westmill from its junction with 3U20 (unnamed road) south westwards, south eastwards, south westwards and westwards to its junction with Cherry Green, a distance of approximately 2070m.
An alternative route will be via 3U20 (unnamed road), C16 (unnamed road) and Cherry Green Lane.
2. that length of 3U20 (unnamed road), Westmill from its junction with The Street south eastwards to its junction with C16 (unnamed road), a distance of approximately 1410m.
An alternative route will be via Aspenden Road, London Road, A10 (unnamed road), the A10 Puckeridge Bypass/B1368 Buntingford Road roundabout, A10 (unnamed road), Station Hill and C16 (unnamed road).
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
